Boho Wedding Leeds

Boho weddings are about being different, they’re about having what you want rather than what tradition dictates you should have. Laura and James had their Boho wedding at Lineham Farm in Leeds this weekend and it certainly stood out amongst many of today’s more traditional weddings.

First of all Lineham Farm is a residential site for children and young people in the Leeds area. It specialises in residentials for school groups but with a special focus on groups from underprivileged backgrounds who may not have the chance to access such resources. A noble cause certainly and quite an unusual, quirky setting for a wedding. The grounds are surrounded by acres of private woodland with fire pits and walking trails as well as a huge playbarn (which we didn’t get to use. Aaaaaaaw.)

Laura and James approached me nearly a year ago to be their wedding guitarist in Leeds at Lineham Farm. They purchased my full day package which meant I was there from the ceremony right to the final dance. I also provided room lighting in the evening to enhance the atmosphere. Turned out we didn’t need it! We spent virtually all evening outside. More on that later.

Laura and James decided to hold their wedding deep in the woods just off one of the walking trails. This is where my range of equipment really comes in useful. I have a fully battery powered amplifier system which means that even though we’re not near a power source I can provide 4 hours of constant music and I don’t have to go unplugged. I played for some time during the ceremony before Laura walked down the aisle to my rendition of Tenerife Sea. The ceremony was officiated by Jane Hawksworth, a Leeds based celebrant who had clearly put a lot of time into personalising the newlyweds’ story so the wedding was totally unique.

We stayed around for photographs which were led by my good friend and super organised and professional photographer, Paula Brown of Ollievision, before heading back to the farm for a sit down meal. James and Laura had cleared a space for myself and Paula so we sat at a table with the guests, something that usually doesn’t happen. It was great to have a laugh with the party and get to know them before the festivities kicked in later.

We headed outside for the first dance. James and Laura picked the destined-to-be-a-classic Perfect by Ed Sheeran where they were joined by their utterly adorable daughter and family. You can see footage in the highlight reel below.

The plan was to go into the main room and rock the dance floor but that soon changed when we went down to the forest after a few songs in the yard, including a rather amazing rendition of Hallelujah by one of the guests, Jamie, who had a stunning voice. He gained confidence as the night went on and joined me for more as he realised people liked what he did. Honestly thought I’d be out of a job by the end of the night.

We finished the night off around the campfire singing together before heading off. I sang for 3 hours straight. That’s right. 3 hours. I was quite tired afterwards but it’s important to me that the guests have a good time. Many of them left me reviews. Have a look.
